Namaste, fellow gamers and lovers of epic tales! Today, we’re excited to share a glimpse of our journey at Karmaratha Studio, where we’re working to bring the ancient, timeless epic of the Mahabharata to life through the medium of video games. This project is our love letter to a story that’s inspired and shaped countless lives across generations, and now, we’re thrilled to take it forward, reimagining it for a whole new audience.
Our Mission: An Active, Interactive Mahabharata Experience
Growing up with Mahabharata, we were captivated by its profound stories, complex characters, and timeless wisdom. Now, as game developers, we feel it’s our calling to introduce these epic battles, moral struggles, and heroic journeys to players through the immersive world of gaming. Imagine stepping into the shoes of Arjun, navigating not just the battles around him but also the internal struggles that defined him. At Karmaratha, we want you to play through these legendary moments, to experience the choices and challenged our heroes faced, firsthand.
Inspirations and Gameplay Vision
We’ve drawn a lot of inspiration from masterpieces like Sekiro and God of War, both of which brilliantly balanced fluid gameplay with deep storytelling. Their approach to combat, character development, and atmosphere has influenced our design choices as we build a game that’s challenging, immersive, and reflective of our unique cultural heritage.
Our Aim is to create a game that’s not just visually stunning but also packed with gripping action sequences, intricate character progression, and rich, lore-driven storytelling. Combat will be intense and strategic, allowing players to not only rely on skill but to engage deeply with the essence of each character’s journey.
Behind the Scenes: A Solo Studio’s Journey
We’re currently a small indie studio, with a dedicated team of talented contractors who’ve helped bring our vision to life. Special thanks to Rahul Bisht, our character artist, and Creative Cave, our hair artist, for their incredible work on our first trailer. As a self-funded project with contributions from our Game Director, we’re actively seeking investors and publishers who believe in our mission and are eager to help us see it through to completion.

A Quick Note on Our Trailer Soundtrack
A special shout-out goes to the 2013 Mahabharat soundtrack by Star Plus, which we used as a temporary placeholder to capture the essence of our vision. The music’s powerful resonance truly sets the tone for our game, and while we don’t intend to use it commercially, we’d love to discuss rights if the opportunity arises.
